During the fair, there are Mao tune-pattern, Liu tune-pattern,shadow figures show, vaudeville, paper-cut, New Year paintings, yangko contest, gongs and drums competition and other kinds of folk art activities, different shapes of hawthorn balls are a feast for the eyes and there are all kinds of snacks and handicrafts as long as you want, millions of Chinese and foreign tourists come to the fair every year. Since 1990, Haiyun Nunnery Fair is classified as national key tourism projects. In recent 20 years, Haiyun Nunnery Fair has become a large scale famous fair, some vendors to the fair come from other provinces, and it was named one of the "Chinese top10 folk festival" in 2005. Since 2008, Haiyun Nunnery Fair has been extended longer for a week, is from lunar January 16 to lunar January 22, and the snacks and folk performances are much more abundant.
